Larry built a computer model of NJ’s School Funding Reform Act (SFRA) that is being used to evaluate fairer funding — and has organized with districts and coalitions across the state.
Larry has spent the last year building a model of the School Funding Reform Act (SFRA), the 2008 legislation that finally established constitutional funding for NJ schools. After nearly two decades, the formula needs revision. It has left districts across the state struggling for funding, and without the tools to predict financial challenges. Larry’s model is being used to develop solutions for a fairer distribution of resources across the state, and enable West Orange to provide the education our students deserve.
Larry has met with our state legislators, education funding activists across the state, including the Garden State Coalition of Schools, the Education Law Center, and the New Jersey Fair Funding Coalition. He has met with BOE members from all parts of New Jersey, including Bergen, Camden, Burlington, Essex, and Union Counties. West Orange is not alone in our challenges, and we will not solve them by ourselves. Larry is doing the work to find partners statewide to make sure solutions that help West Orange are the ones that receive support.
